Truck Mod Doctor is a Windows desktop app that scans your ETS2 or ATS mod folder, finds file conflicts between mods, reads your crash log, and builds you a working load order in minutes. You install it once on your PC — it's not a browser tool or a web service. The app runs entirely on your machine; only the load-order and diagnosis features need an internet connection (those call our server).
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator, version 1.58 or newer. At least one mod in your mod folder. An internet connection is needed for load-order generation and AI diagnosis; scanning and conflict detection work entirely offline.
ETS2 and ATS version 1.58 and newer. The load-order rules are updated weekly to match the latest game releases, so you'll always get rules that fit your current version. If you're on a version the Doctor doesn't recognise, it will tell you.
Not natively. The current release is Windows only. A Linux version is in development — if you want to be notified when it's ready, join the Discord server. If you're running ETS2 on Linux via Steam Proton in the meantime, the Windows .exe may work under Wine — but we haven't tested it officially. Mac support is not planned.
Yes. Truck Mod Doctor works with the built-in ETS2/ATS Mod Manager. It reads and writes the same profile.sii file your game uses. It doesn't replace your mod manager — it works alongside it.
Yes. The Doctor knows the load-order rules for every major map combination — including hybrid connectors and add-on packages for ProMods, RoExtended, RusMap, EAA, Reforma, Coast to Coast, and dozens more. It's been built specifically for complex multi-map setups, including big ones with 100+ mods.
Both local and Steam Workshop mods are scanned, ordered, and applied together — the same way the game treats them. No extra setup needed.
Yes, fully. You choose your game during the first-run setup wizard. The Doctor knows ATS-specific load-order rules including the Coast to Coast anchor, the Reforma ecosystem, ProMods Canada, and the EMMN combo. If you play both ETS2 and ATS, you'll need to configure the app for one game at a time — switching is quick via Settings → Reset.
Yes. You tell the Doctor which DLCs you own during setup, and the load-order rules it generates take your exact DLC list into account. All ETS2 and ATS map DLCs are supported. Getting this right matters — some map mods require specific DLCs to sit above or below them in the order.
No. The Doctor never modifies, downloads, or deletes mod files. The only file it writes to is the mod-order list inside your game profile — and it backs up the original automatically before making any change. Your mods stay exactly as they are.
A conflict happens when two or more mods contain a file at the same internal path. The mod higher in the load order wins — but if you don't know which mod is causing a problem, the game can crash or behave oddly. The Doctor finds every overlap, tells you which mods are involved, and rates each conflict by how likely it is to actually break your game.
Every mod in ETS2/ATS has a priority position. The mod at the top of the list wins any file conflict. A bad load order — for example, a map connector placed below the map it connects — is the most common reason truck games crash or roads disappear. The Doctor generates a load order based on tested community rules tailored to your exact mod list, DLCs, and game version.
For most setups (up to 100 mods), a scan takes 10–60 seconds depending on your disk speed. Very large setups with 200+ mods and multiple big map packs can take 2–3 minutes on a spinning hard drive; much faster on an SSD. You can watch the progress live as it scans.
One click restores your previous order. The Doctor backs up your profile automatically before every apply — a Restore button appears in the app the moment you’ve applied. You’re never more than one click away from where you started.
Only two things, and only when you ask: (1) when you click “Load Order”, your mod list — filenames only, no mod file contents — is sent to our server to generate an order; (2) when you use “Ask the Doctor”, your mod list and a summary of your conflicts and log errors are sent for diagnosis. Your actual mod files never leave your PC. No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking pixels — not in the app, not on this website.
Scanning your mods and detecting conflicts are fully offline. Generating a load order and using the diagnosis chat both require an internet connection — those call our server. If you’re offline, those features will show a clear error rather than silently failing.
Yes. ETS2 and ATS both store profiles in an encrypted format called ScsC. The Doctor handles the decryption and re-encryption transparently — you won’t notice any difference.
The app is a single .exe file — no installer, no registry entries, no system folders. Drop it anywhere and run it. It saves its settings to your AppData folder, which your standard user account already has access to. Admin rights are not required.
Not at the moment. Scanning and conflict detection are fully offline features that run entirely on your PC without a subscription. The subscription covers load-order generation and AI diagnosis, which run on our server.
Through Gumroad. You enter your card details on Gumroad’s checkout page (PayPal is also accepted), and Gumroad emails you a licence key. Enter that key in the Doctor on first run and you’re set. Gumroad is a well-established payments platform used by thousands of indie software sellers.
Log in to Gumroad with the email address you used to buy, find your subscription under Purchases, and cancel from there. Your access continues until the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for — monthly subscribers keep access to the end of that month, yearly to the end of that year.
Scanning and conflict detection keep working — those run entirely on your PC and need no subscription. Load-order generation and AI diagnosis will stop working when your billing period ends. Your mod files and game profile are completely untouched either way.
One licence covers one PC at a time. If you get a new computer or reinstall Windows, email support@truckmoddoctor.com and we’ll sort it out.
Start with the Check Game Log button in the app — it often pinpoints the exact mod causing a crash and tells you in plain English what to do. If the app itself is the problem, use Help → Report a problem, which copies a full diagnostic to your clipboard. Post it in #bug-reports on Discord or email support@truckmoddoctor.com.
Discord is the fastest route — join the server and open a support ticket, or post in #bug-reports. You can also email support@truckmoddoctor.com. We aim to respond within 24 hours on weekdays.
Use Help → Report a problem inside the app. It automatically gathers your app version, OS, game version, and diagnostic information, and copies everything to your clipboard in one click. Post it in #bug-reports on Discord or email it to support@truckmoddoctor.com with a note about what you were doing when it happened.
