1. The short version
The Truck Mod Doctor desktop app runs on your PC. Most of what it does — scanning your mod folder, finding conflicts, reading your game log — never leaves your machine. Two features (generating a load order and asking the Doctor for diagnosis) send a small amount of data to our server so we can run them, and we forward part of that data to Anthropic, who run the AI model behind those features.
We don't have user accounts, profiles, tracking pixels, or an analytics suite. We don't sell or share your data. We don't send marketing emails. The only email you'll ever get from us is your licence key receipt.
2. Who we are
Truck Mod Doctor is an independent software product operated from the United Kingdom. Throughout this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Truck Mod Doctor as the data controller. For data questions, contact us at support@truckmoddoctor.com.
3. What we collect
We collect only what's needed to sell you the app and run the online features:
- Your email address — collected by Gumroad when you buy. We use it solely to send you your licence key and to handle support requests if you contact us. We do not add you to any mailing list.
- Your licence key — generated when you buy. We store it on our server so the app can verify it on activation and renew it on each billing cycle.
- Activation metadata — when you activate the app, we record the date of activation and a hashed identifier for the machine, so that one licence covers one PC at a time.
- Usage counters — when you use the load-order or diagnosis feature, we increment a daily counter against your licence key so we can enforce the fair-use limits stated on the pricing page (31 of each per day).
4. What we don't collect
- No real name, no address, no phone number. Gumroad may collect billing-address information for tax purposes; we don't see or store it.
- No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking pixels. Not in the app, not on this website.
- No usage profiling. We don't know which features you use, how often, or for how long.
- No content of your mod files. Your mods stay on your PC.
- No content of your game log file. The log is parsed locally; we never see the raw file.
5. What leaves your PC, and when
Two specific actions cause data to leave your PC:
- Generating a load order. When you click “Load Order”, the app sends your licence key, the game you've selected (ETS2 or ATS), your installed DLC list, and the filenames of the mods in your folder (no file contents) to our server. The server uses this to generate a recommended load order and returns it.
- Asking the Doctor a question. When you use the diagnosis chat, the app sends your licence key, your mod list, a summary of any detected conflicts, a summary of errors found in your game log, and the question you typed. The server forwards this to Anthropic, returns the answer, and forgets it.
Both actions only happen when you click the button. The app never makes background calls.
6. Third parties we use
- Gumroad handles payments, your email address, and licence-key delivery. Their privacy policy is at gumroad.com/privacy.
- Anthropic provides the AI model that powers the “Ask the Doctor” diagnosis feature and the load-order generator. Data we send them is processed under their commercial terms; they do not use it to train their models. Their privacy policy is at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
- Ionos hosts our website and backend server. Their privacy policy is at ionos.co.uk/terms-gtc/privacy-policy.
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, advertising networks, or any other tracking service.
7. How long we keep it
- Licence keys and email addresses: for as long as your subscription is active, plus 12 months after the final cancellation, so we can re-issue keys if you come back.
- Activation metadata and usage counters: for the current billing cycle plus 90 days, then deleted.
- Support emails: for 24 months from the last message in a thread, then deleted.
- Load-order and diagnosis requests: not stored beyond the request itself. The server processes them and forgets them.
8. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
- Ask what data we hold about you;
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong;
- Ask us to delete your data (subject to any legal obligation we have to keep records);
- Object to or restrict our processing of your data;
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format;
- Complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if you think we've handled your data wrongly.
To make a request, email support@truckmoddoctor.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
9. Cookies and tracking
This website does not set any cookies, does not run any JavaScript, and does not load fonts, scripts, or images from third-party domains. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
The desktop app stores its configuration in a folder on your PC (Windows AppData) and reads/writes only files you've explicitly pointed it at. It does not set cookies.
10. Children
Truck Mod Doctor is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us at support@truckmoddoctor.com and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top of the page and, where the change affects you directly, notify you by email. Continued use of the app after the change means you accept the updated policy.
